Lidar systems

The first component comprises three scanning lidar systems:

  • a water vapor differential absorption lidar (DIAL)
  • a water vapor and temperature rotational Raman lidar (RRL) at the Institute of Physics and Meteorology (IPM)
  • a Doppler lidar (DL) for wind measurements from the company HALO.

This combination allows researchers to measure 2D and 3D structures of these important atmospheric variables from the ground through the boundary layer up to the lower troposphere (around 3-4 km altitude).
